Key Safety Tips:

- Ensure your fireplace is built with non-combustible materials. Avoid materials like MDF, which are not suitable for installation.
- Allow ample space around the flame and heat source. We recommend maintaining at least a 50-60 cm clearance above the burner to keep things safe.

Pre-Fabricated Bioethanol Fireplace Safety Tips
Pre-fabricated bioethanol fireplaces, including our wall-mounted and freestanding models, are designed for quick and easy installation. While there may not be an extensive list of guidelines for safety distances, we do have some helpful recommendations to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
Given the wide variety of models available, it’s understandable that one-size-fits-all advice can be tricky. For your peace of mind, we always recommend reviewing the specific installation and safety instructions provided in the manual for your individual bioethanol fireplace. This way, you can be confident that your fireplace is set up safely and correctly.
Freestanding Bioethanol Fireplace Safety Distances
Freestanding Bioethanol Fireplace Safety Distances
These safety guidelines apply to both freestanding bioethanol fireplaces and bioethanol table fireplaces, ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience with your new fireplace.
To start, we recommend maintaining a minimum clearance of 90 cm above the burner. If the burner is enclosed in a protective “box,” the clearance can be reduced to 60-70 cm for added flexibility.
The safety distance around freestanding bioethanol fireplaces can vary depending on the model. Most of our bioethanol fires feature side shields that help contain the flame, so only a small gap of a couple of centimeters is needed around the fireplace for safety.
However, for models without side shields on every side, we suggest keeping a distance of at least 60 cm from the burner to any flammable materials.
It's important to be especially cautious around curtains or similar items that may be moved by the wind. Ensure these items are kept at least 1 meter away from the open flame to prevent any potential risk.
By following these straightforward recommendations, you can enjoy your freestanding bioethanol fireplace with confidence and peace of mind. For more options, feel free to explore our full selection of freestanding bioethanol fires.
Wall-Mounted Bioethanol Fireplace Safety Distances
When installing a wall-mounted bioethanol fireplace, it's essential to maintain a minimum clearance of 90 cm above the burner to ensure safe operation.
If your burner is enclosed within a protective “box,” this clearance can be reduced to 60-70 cm for added flexibility.
While side clearance is generally not a concern, we strongly recommend allowing a small gap between the bioethanol fireplace and nearby materials for extra peace of mind.
Take special care around movable items, such as curtains, which could be shifted by the wind. To prevent any risk, ensure that such items are kept at least 1 meter away from the open flame.
Regarding the wall itself, most wall-mounted bioethanol fireplaces can be installed on a variety of wall types, provided the wall is strong enough to support the weight.
Additionally, these fireplaces are often equipped with a backplate or wall brackets that effectively shield the wall from heat and fire, offering an added layer of safety.
By following these straightforward guidelines, you can enjoy the warmth and ambiance of your bioethanol fireplace with confidence.
Bioethanol fireplaces and space required.
As a general rule of thumb you will need 1 kW of heat for every 15 cubic meter of space to be heated. To calculate what size of fire or stove you will need, measure the width, length, and height of the room or space and multiply the three figures together to obtain the cubic area of the space to be heated. It’s not as effective as gas fires or wood burners that have much greater heat outputs. All of our Bioethanol Fires are designed for decorative purposes as well as being a secondary heat source. Although some of our fires do have very high heat outputs, unlike primary heat sources such Wood or Gas stoves, as soon as you turn off a bioethanol fire, the heat emitted will disappear.
